Dodgers Roster: Chuckie Robinson Recalled, Will Smith Placed On Injured List
"The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Will Smith on the 10-day injured list with a right hand contusion and recalled Chuckie Robinson from Triple-A Oklahoma City before Saturday's game against the San Francisco Giants. Smith's IL stint is retroactive to Wednesday, Sept. 10. He was in the initial Dodgers lineup that night but got scratched shortly before first pitch because of swelling in his right hand."
""This is literally 15 minutes before the game as he's getting ready, his hand started to swell up and compromise a little bit as he was getting loose," manager Dave Roberts explained after the Dodgers completed a sweep of the Colorado Rockies. "So we'll kind of manage him, see how he is, the off day with treatment. And then Friday we'll make a decision if he plays. Not overly concerned, but we've got to get that swelling under wraps.""
"Smith underwent an MRI, which came back negative, just like a prior X-ray and CT scan taken of his hand. However, Smith did not play in the series opener at Oracle Park. Roberts previously remarked that Smith would need to play through a bone bruise for the remainder of the season. He suffered the injury as a result of being hit by a foul ball on Sept. 3."
Will Smith was placed on the 10-day injured list retroactive to Sept. 10 with a right hand contusion after swelling forced him out of the lineup before the Sept. 10 game. MRI, X-ray and CT scans of the hand were negative. Manager Dave Roberts said the team will manage Smith, treat the swelling and reassess before Friday; Roberts noted Smith may need to play through a bone bruise sustained after being hit by a foul ball on Sept. 3. Chuckie Robinson was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to provide catching depth while Dalton Rushing completes a rehab assignment.
