The 47 Freeway was closed in both directions from the Southbound 710 to Harbor Boulevard, disrupting significant truck traffic to and from the harbor.
Authorities are managing a hazardous materials situation, with potential freeway closure lasting up to 24 or 48 hours impacting commuter routes.
Sgt. Daniel Keene noted, 'any incident that shuts down a highway is going to cause a large impact for the commuters', emphasizing the significance of the Port of Los Angeles.
