Nscale, a London-based startup backed by Nvidia, secured $2bn in funding, bringing its valuation to $14.6bn. The company appointed Sheryl Sandberg, former Meta COO, and Nick Clegg, former UK deputy prime minister, to its board. Sandberg brings experience scaling major technology companies, while Clegg contributes expertise in technology policy and AI governance. Nscale is building a supercomputer in Loughton as part of the UK government's AI infrastructure initiative and will contribute to Stargate UK, a major partnership involving OpenAI and Nvidia. The supercomputer is expected to launch later this year. Nscale was spun out from Australian bitcoin mining company Arkon Energy in 2024 and operates datacentres across the US and Europe.
