The study revealed that UK politicians received over 85,000 abusive messages, with more than 6% of all replies to key figures being clearly abusive during the election.
Following public engagement on X, politicians received their first abusive reply within minutes, indicating the speed at which online abuse occurs in political discourse.
The analysis pointed out that nearly 20% of the abusive messages contained explicit sexist, misogynistic, or sexually explicit content, highlighting gender-specific hostility.
Racial abuse was a notable aspect, with targeted politicians like Sunak, Khan, Abbott, and Braverman facing slurs and personal attacks, often urging them to 'go back' to their origins.
