A ferris wheel caught fire at Leipzig's Highfield Festival, injuring over 30 people. While most injuries were mild, two individuals sustained serious injuries, according to the German Red Cross.
The incident happened around 9 p.m. local time, leading to significant smoke billowing from the structure. Hundreds of festivalgoers witnessed the fire and many documented the event on social media.
Police confirmed that of the more than 30 injured, four were officers. The cause of the fire remains unclear, prompting ongoing investigations.
The Highfield Festival, known for its Indie-Rock lineup, took place in Grossposna, an outer suburb of Leipzig, and was scheduled to conclude on Sunday.
