The Met Office issued two yellow weather warnings for thunderstorms in parts of England and Wales, with heavy rain forecast to hit specific regions during the night, potentially causing travel disruptions and flooding.
The warnings emphasize the possibility of thunderstorms leading to travel disruption, flooding, difficult driving conditions, road closures, delays, cancellations to transport services, power cuts, and damage to buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail, or strong winds.
A spokeswoman for the Met Office highlighted the movement of weather fronts from the south-west and the near continent, indicating the potential for widespread heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, hail, and isolated heavy downpours.
While the south faces the risk of thunderstorms, the north is expected to experience drier weather and warming temperatures according to Met Office's assessment.
