The London School of Economics (LSE) has been ranked the best university in the UK this year by the Sunday Times due to its high scores in graduate prospects, teaching, and research quality.
With 92.5% of LSE students securing high-skilled full-time jobs or continuing their studies just 15 months after graduation, the university's reputation for employability is a key factor in its top ranking.
This year's ranking saw St Andrews taking third place, resulting in Oxford and Cambridge's historic fall to fourth and fifth places, the lowest in the 31-year history of the Sunday Times league.
The Sunday Times attributes this shift in rankings to the rising interest in STEM subjects, suggesting that traditional views on arts subjects may undervalue their potential career opportunities.
