As TfL prepares for the opening of the Silvertown Tunnel, Tunnel Avenue is planned to become a two-way road along its entire length. Once this happens, the proposal says to restructure route 188 to serve Tunnel Avenue two-way, rather than Millennium Way.
The Silvertown Tunnel scheme plans to modify the local road layout, allowing two-way vehicle traffic on Tunnel Avenue to help improve public transport access to the west side of Greenwich Peninsula. The proposed re-routing of the 188 wants to connect to North Greenwich station and Greenwich town centre.
