Stabbing at 'crime hotspot' puts man in hospital

A man was hospitalised after a stabbing at a square once considered a crime hotspot. Police were called to Gillett Square in Hackney to reports of a man stabbed on Thursday (May 2) at about 9pm.
In 2021, Hackney's Vortex Jazz Club director Robert Beckford called the area a crime hotspot, saying it has been ongoing for maybe 15 years. At the time he said there were several stabbings and lots of knives found in the square.
