Nine arrests as police remove banner calling for 'global intifada' from London building
Briefly

Nine people have been arrested after a banner calling for a global intifada was draped over a building in central London. The Met said that it had removed the banner, which said globalise the intifada, after it was hung from the window of a building in Park Square near Regent's Park on Tuesday morning.
The use of intifada has caused controversy in recent weeks during protests against Israel's bombardment of Gaza in response to the brutal Hamas terror attacks of October 7. The word literally means shaking off in Arabic and is understood in a Palestinian context to mean a civil uprising.
