Larry Fraser, 47, pleaded guilty to stealing a Banksy print valued at £270,000 from Grove Gallery, as his drug debt led him to commit the crime.
The artwork, Girl with Balloon, was part of a larger exhibition called Breakout: Banksy's London Rebellion, which showcased multiple works valued collectively at £1.8m.
Despite admitting to non-residential burglary, Fraser's sentencing was postponed until after co-defendant James Love's trial scheduled for September 15 next year.
Fraser's defence cited his financial struggles due to a historic drug debt as the motivation behind the high-profile theft from the central London gallery.
