The Ulez scrappage scheme, launched in January 2023, enables drivers to contribute funds towards compliant vehicles when scrapping non-compliant ones, enhancing London's air quality.
Transport for London revealed that over 200 vehicles, previously non-compliant with the ultra-low emission zone, have been sent to Ukraine to aid humanitarian and medical efforts.
Despite prior legal concerns, the vehicles sent to Ukraine are part of a broader initiative that compensates drivers and small businesses for switching to more sustainable transport options.
As the Ulez scrappage scheme approaches its closure, TfL has approved almost 54,000 applications, distributing over £186 million to help Londoners dispose of polluting vehicles.
