Bus driver charged as man fights for his life weeks after Croydon crash

A bus driver, Akil Atkins, has been charged with drug driving after a collision left a 46-year-old pedestrian critically injured in Croydon.
The incident occurred on October 5 at George Street, where police were called to a collision at 1.09pm, just before paramedics arrived on the scene.
The pedestrian was quickly taken to the hospital by paramedics, remaining in critical condition, while the bus driver was arrested and charged the following day.
Atkins has been bailed until mid-December, pending further enquiries, illustrating the legal proceedings following such serious incidents.
