British Cycling has expressed keen interest in hosting the Tour de France Grand Départ in the UK for 2027, citing potential social and economic benefits.
John Dutton stated, "The Tour de France would have a hugely positive impact, it would create incredible visibility and it would allow all partners to deliver more social value over a period of time."
Dutton also highlighted the importance of cycle tourism, mentioning that it "wouldn't just be about the race coming and going," emphasizing the lasting impacts on the community.
Despite neighboring Ireland's withdrawal of their bid due to budget constraints, Dutton remains optimistic about the possibility of a successful British bid for 2027.
