The sophisticated money laundering network used a Chinese underground banking system, called 'Big Sun in the Sky,' discovered by police after an extensive investigation.
Officers uncovered transactions of over 55 million laundered by the group from February 2020 to June 2023, highlighting the long-term operation's scale.
During the simultaneous raids, significant evidence was found, including over 104,000 in cash hidden in a wardrobe as well as counting machines.
The group's methods included using a messaging app for transactions with students, circumventing currency controls, showcasing innovative but illegal financial practices.
