Supreme Court to begin broadcasting hearings later this year
Briefly

Under a pilot program by Mr Justice Donal O'Donnell, Ireland will broadcast Supreme Court hearings, not trial courts. Previous broadcasts were limited to delivery of judgments, not arguments.
Mr Justice Donal O'Donnell emphasized the importance of making legal arguments in Supreme Court cases widely available to the public for general understanding.
The Chief Justice of Ireland clarified that while Supreme Court hearings will be televised, there are no plans to extend this to other courts like trial courts.
While some countries allow filming of trials, concerns exist that televising trials could lead to them being viewed as entertainment, potentially affecting respect for the courts.
