School ordered to pay trans man $4 million after he was barred from boys' restroom
Briefly

A Missouri Appeals Court ruled in favor of the former student, identified by the initials RMA, who sued the Blue Springs School District after it barred him from using the boys' locker room.
Judge Anthony Gabbert ruled that the school district's excuse for excluding the student due to 'female genitalia' was insufficient as the district 'did not actually determine the nature of RMA's genitalia.'
RMA was reportedly denied access to boys' facilities after legally changing gender in 2014. Despite participating in boys' athletics, he was forced to use a separate unisex bathroom.
He chose not to participate in fall sports for a school year due to being denied access. The initial $4 million award was given in 2021 after discrimination claims.
