Sarah McBride is on course to become the first trans person in US Congress after her only opponent in Delaware's Democratic primary dropped out.
McBride made history as the first trans state senator in 2020 and is now running for US Congress in Delaware, highly likely to win in the heavily Democratic state.
If elected in November, McBride will be the youngest to represent Delaware since Joe Biden, endorsed by Lisa Blunt Rochester for her advocacy work.
Annise Parker from LGBTQ+ Victory Fund praised McBride's leadership, highlighting her effectiveness and respect as a leader beyond her transgender identity.
