During a Michigan senate session, Republican Senator Jonathan Lindsey suggested referring to President Trump as 'Daddy', referencing comments from NATO chief Mark Rutte. Lindsey aimed to troll Democratic colleagues with this suggestion, linking Trump's father-figure persona to international conflicts. Democratic Senator Jeremy Moss responded humorously, pointing out the different meanings of 'daddy' within LGBTQ+ culture. His comment garnered laughter and effectively shut down Lindsey's attempt. Moss later celebrated the moment on social media as a significant statement for the LGBTQ+ community.
Lindsey made the comments in reference to NATO chief Mark Rutte last week (25 June) calling the Republican president 'daddy' as an analogy which painted Trump as the father of two arguing children - there, Israel and Iran.
Moss quickly deflated Lindsey's trolling attempt with a perfectly timed response: 'You don't want to know what daddy means in my community.'
The quip, which referenced the term's different connotations in LGBTQ+ culture, sent the chamber into eruptions of laughter and effectively shut down Lindsey's suggestion.
Moss later shared the moment on social media, celebrating it as a big win for the LGBTQ+ community.
