Gottlieb painted the picture of a strained relationship between Close and Freeman after Freddie was rumored to have learned of a contract offer from the Braves that was never relayed to the 2020 NL MVP.
The radio personality issued a statement on Wednesday where he backtracked on his reports and apologized to Close and his agency.
"While I always strive to report accurate information, I prematurely reported on these events and simply got it wrong."
