Greg Vanney emphasized the necessity of playing with 100% intensity as LA Galaxy prepares for the California Clasico against San Jose Earthquakes. Following a rocky start to their 2025 MLS season, where they sat last in the Western Conference with eight points, the Galaxy cannot afford to allow their performance levels to drop. Vanney expressed disappointment over their previous game against Colorado, where the team only competed at 60-70% intensity, stressing the need for urgency and quick transitions to improve their chances against their rivals.
"For too much of that game we were operating at 60% or 70% of the intensity level that was needed," Vanney said as he reflected on the Colorado defeat.
"We were lacking a little bit of edge. We were one paced. I said to the group, 'this hasn't been how we have played in the last couple of games'."
