Jerry West, an iconic 1960s star guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, died at 86. He won an NBA title in 1972 and was nicknamed Mr. Clutch for his skilled shot-making under pressure.
West was a 14-time NBA All-Star, scoring champion in 1970, and had his jersey number retired by the Lakers. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1980.
