Briefly

"When you're on the bleachers and you're in the corner looking across the pool toward Waikiki, it's really stupefying. I mean, you're like, 'Why are we not using this?' Because it's eye-popping, when you're in there and you see the scale of it, you're like, 'This is incredible,'" said Donna Ching, vice president of the Friends of the Natatorium.
"It was dedicated to World War I, you know, like why would we even consider [demolishing] it? It's just morally wrong. It's an architectural treasure, in addition to a usable public community gathering place," expressed Ching, reflecting on the natatorium's importance.
"Having been on the nonprofit board for nearly 30 years, she feels a responsibility to see it through for the kupuna (elders) who died waiting for it to be restored," highlighting Ching's personal commitment to preserving the natatorium.
