JavaScript community challenges Oracle's JavaScript trademark
Briefly

In an open letter published on September 16, leaders of the JavaScript community have urged Oracle to release the JavaScript trademark to the public domain.
Ryan Dahl emphasized that the trademark's release would clear confusion, allowing for an official specification naming 'JavaScript' and enabling community events like a 'JavaScript Conference.'
Dahl remarked that Oracle's ownership is a relic from its acquisition of Sun Microsystems and has never been utilized effectively to foster innovation or clarity.
The signatories of the letter, over 10,000 strong, highlight the disruption caused by Oracle’s abandonment of the trademark and their plan to petition the USPTO to cancel it.
