More & More Ticks Are Being Found In NYC-Here's How To Keep Yourself Safe
Briefly

Blacklegged ticks (deer ticks) in NYC spread Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, and babesiosis. Lone star ticks can transmit ehrlichiosis and alpha-gal syndrome. American dog ticks carry Rocky Mountain spotted fever in all five boroughs. Asian longhorned ticks in NYC have not been found to spread diseases.
Staten Island is the most tick-infested NYC borough due to its large deer population. Tick population decreased after controlling deer in Staten Island, but spread to other boroughs previously thought tick-free.
