Germany population growth to remain flat, study shows DW 04/09/2024
Briefly

Germany's population is expected to grow by only 0.6% by 2040, with significant regional disparities such as a 4.6% increase in Baden-Wurttemberg and a 12.3% decrease in Saxony-Anhalt.
The working-age population in Germany is forecasted to fall below 50% by 2040, indicating a significant shift in demographic structure, with a rising proportion of elderly individuals.
Ralph Heck highlighted that the aging trend in German society is widespread, with the percentage of people aged 65 and above projected to increase from 22% in 2020 to 28% in 2040.
"Targeted strategies are now needed to develop suitable infrastructure for older generations and address economic challenges posed by the demographic changes," emphasized Heck.
