Hundreds gather in Paris to light candles after synagogue attacked
Briefly

Around 200 people gathered at the Place de la République in Paris to illuminate candles at the start of Shabbat in solidarity after the synagogue attack in Rouen.
The attack just before Shabbat raised concerns for the safety of thousands planning to attend synagogue services, with fears heightened among the Jewish community.
Interior Minister Darmanin labeled the attack as clearly antisemitic and commended the police officer for taking down the assailant swiftly and courageously.
"This antisemitic act in Rouen affects us all, deeply," emphasized Darmanin, highlighting the seriousness and impact of the attack on the entire community.
