Barcelona confirmed that goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has suffered a complete rupture of the patella tendon in his right knee, requiring immediate surgery.
Ter Stegen sustained the injury during a match against Villarreal, where all of his weight fell on his right leg upon jumping for a ball.
It’s reported that ter Stegen will be out for approximately seven months, which may indicate the end of his season.
The club stated, 'Tests carried out on the first team player confirm that he has a complete rupture of the patella tendon in his right knee.'
