Barcelona's first encounter with the Portuguese side came during the 1972/73 season in the first round of the old UEFA Cup, the Catalan side travelling to Porto's previous stadium Estadio das Antas.
Rinus Michels' Barcelona side may have taken a first-half lead through striker Jose Antonio Barrios, but two goals in three minutes just after half-time changed the complexion of the tie.
Despite losing 3-1 in Portugal, Barca were the side celebrating on this occasion at Estadio das Antas. That's because, having won the first leg 2-0, the late Terry Venables had helped the Catalonian giants to the quarter-final of the European Cup in the 1985/86 campaign.
