The UK could be home to 'quantum Nvidia', says algorithm startup
Briefly

"Historically, government support and encouragement has been absolutely crucial for quantum technologies, and quantum computing in particular," Ashley Montanaro, co-founder and CEO of Phasecraft, told TNW. He emphasized the essential role of stable and predictable public funding to nurture the high-risk, high-reward nature of quantum technology research and development, highlighting that despite the government's commitment of £2.5bn, there are growing demands for funding, as seen with recent cuts in AI, which threaten consistency in growth.
"We think it's important to make the case that in quantum technologies, the UK in particular, really has an opportunity to be a world leader and be the home of the next 'quantum Microsoft' or 'quantum Nvidia'," said Montanaro. This statement underlines the belief that with adequate support and investment, the UK can cultivate significant advancements in quantum computing, positioning itself as a global leader and fostering innovation in the sector, which could lead to immense economic benefits.
