Leftist fractions in the EU are forming a new parliamentary group to counter the far right by focusing on appeasement with Russia, working-class rights, and migration.
The 'red sovereignists' aim to attract populist votes from the far right while challenging the centrist-liberal-democratic establishment ideologically.
'There are a lot of trends and shades in the populist left ideology that correspond with some of the right in Europe right now,' said Boyd Wagner from Euronews Polls Centre.
