In some places, national conservative and far-right forces made big gains, but they did not do uniformly well across the EU. Apart from France, Germany, and Austria, the far-right's scores were often underwhelming in other member states. Parties such as Belgian's Vlaams Belang, the Danish People's party, the Finns, and the Sweden Democrats saw disappointing results compared to expectations.
