Brexit has significantly impacted the cost of energy in the UK, adding up to £370 million annually and potentially reaching £10 billion in total costs by 2030.
Energy UK's deputy director, Kisha Couchman, stated, "We have been left with these very inefficient trading arrangements, and there is a cost to that," emphasizing the burden on consumers.
The organization argues that reinstating a unified trading operation could lower electricity costs while enhancing decarbonization efforts between the UK and EU, promoting net zero goals.
Energy UK insists that reconnection with the EU's trading systems should be a top priority for the new UK government, supported by both British and European industries.
