Another delay to new national children's hospital revealed with opening date now heading to 2026
Briefly

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has conveyed to Coalition leaders that the projected completion date for the under-construction hospital has now shifted to 2026, from an earlier deadline of February 2025.
With the budget for the hospital project ballooning to €2.2 billion and the timeline extended multiple times, there is significant concern surrounding further funding commitments by the government.
The board of the hospital is expected to appear before the Oireachtas Health Committee next week, following Minister Donnelly's letter, to discuss the impacts of ongoing delays and funding issues.
Donnelly's letter indicated that current claims against BAM, the construction company, which amount to €600m, are still unresolved, potentially jeopardizing further government support.
