Simon Nicolas Lowry, 24, is facing two misdemeanor criminal mischief raps for cutting through the word 'Israel' on a banner reading 'AEÏ stands with Israel' hanging in front of Alpha Epsilon Pi.
"This student's actions were deliberate and unacceptable and will not be tolerated at the University of Florida," campus Police Chief Linda Stump-Kurnick said in a statement.
The bills, which will be considered for passage in January, list both Hamas and Islamic Jihad as groups students would be barred from backing.
