Supt. Carvalho moves ahead with troubled AI effort despite collapse of tech contractor
Briefly

Los Angeles schools Supt. Alberto Carvalho proceeds with an AI platform despite the collapse of the company that designed a chatbot, now focusing on a fully functional AI-driven platform excluding the chatbot.
Although the district owns the platform, parents and teachers are concerned as they lack access and knowledge about its functionality beyond being showcased at media events. Questions arise regarding leaked private data and its connection to the AI project.
Concerns about data management heightened as a former contractor's neglect led to exposed district data through a breach at a different company. LA Unified has not provided detailed information on the breach or notified affected parties.
The AI chatbot 'Ed' was meant to access vast amounts of data from the school system, however, it has been deactivated since June 14 following AllHere's lay off of the team behind it.
