Classroom cameras at a costly taxpayer-funded boarding school for autistic, mentally ill, and emotionally disturbed students recorded a biology teacher sexually abusing a boy, but went unmonitored according to a lawsuit.
The principal only watched the video showing the teacher's inappropriate behavior towards a 16-year-old student after the boy disclosed the abuse to his mother, leaving the mother deeply upset about the lack of monitoring.
The lawsuit details how the teacher, now facing criminal charges, engaged in disturbing behavior including luring the teen into a sexual relationship and involving him in an X-rated livestream video call.
The lawsuit also reveals that the NYC Department of Education, responsible for funding the boy's attendance at Biondi, may have paid over $100,000 annually for his tuition, room and board, psychological treatment, and supervision.
