Law Professors Push Administration To Drop Charges Against Protesting Students
Briefly

University of Buffalo School of Law (SUNY) faculty members are making efforts to petition the UB president to drop charges against protesters who were arrested on May 1...The faculty...stated that all offenses charged were violations consisting of loitering, trespass, and disorderly conduct, which are classified under New York law as violations, not crimes.
"It would reflect poorly on the university to continue pursuing these criminal charges which have little or no legal substance to them. Nor is doing so necessary to maintain good public order," according to the letter.
Regardless of how SUNY's institutional response is perceived over time, it is clear that the faculty were swift in advocating for dropping charges against the arrested students, aligning with historical perspectives on the bravery and importance of protesting college students.
