Spending on each schoolchild's education in England has suffered an unprecedented 14-year-freeze since the Conservatives came to power, resulting in funding per pupil now at 2010 levels in real terms, as per the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS).
Investment in England's school buildings is 25% lower in real terms compared to the mid-2000s, with the government allocating 40% less than necessary for maintaining school buildings in a fit state, according to the IFS analysis.
