Columbia University Students Defy 2 P.M. Deadline To Clear Their Encampments or Face Suspension
Briefly

Hundreds of Columbia University students have dug in their heels and refused to clear their protest encampments despite a 2 p.m. deadline. The university imposed the deadline Monday morning, telling the students to vacate the protest areas or face possible suspension.
Students are upset with the Biden administration's support of Israel, which has been attacking Gaza since Hamas attacked and killed at least 1,200 people on Oct. 7. Some are calling for Columbia to divest from Israeli companies.
The university president issued a statement Monday saying the university will not divest from Israel. The administration also said it was not able to come to an agreement with negotiators for the student protesters.
