Another year of bumper Leaving Cert results before grade climbdown begins

Education Minister Norma Foley emphasized there will be no 'cliff edge' for the class of 2025, while also stating the 2024 candidates will be the last to have post-marking adjustments like those during the pandemic period. She assured that while grade inflation will decrease, it would be maintained at a minimum of 5.5%, signaling a transition in grading standards without abrupt changes that might disadvantage students.

With nearly 70% of all grades adjusted upwards this year, the results mirror the inflated rates observed during the pandemic. Education Minister Foley confirmed that while students in the class of 2025 might face a more competitive landscape against those from previous years, the adjustments will provide a buffer against drastic changes in grading.
