Here's what happens if Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao is recalled

If a majority votes yes on the recall, Thao will be removed from office. Her term, which ends in 2026, will instead end this year.

The recall against Sheng Thao was formally launched in January, led by Brenda Harbin-Forte, who accused Thao of contributing to a public safety crisis and mishandling finances.
