The Studio Museum in Harlem will open its new home on 125th Street in fall 2025, focusing on the work of Tom Lloyd in its first exhibition.
Thelma Golden stated, 'This space allows us to fully execute on all of the work that we have been known to do, but gives us so much more capacity and so much more possibility.'
With 82,000 square feet and increased exhibition space by over 50 percent, the new building embodies the aspirations for a museum devoted to Black artists.
The museum has successfully raised over $285 million of its $300 million capital campaign, underscoring a significant commitment to future sustainability.
