The estate of Michael Crichton claims that Warner Bros. Television’s upcoming series, The Pitt, is an unauthorized reboot of ER, seeking credit and compensation for his heirs.
Warner Bros. countered that The Pitt is a completely original show, stating in their correspondence that they would vigorously defend against what they termed meritless claims from the Crichton Estate.
The Crichton Estate details that in 2020 discussions began for a reboot of ER, which was allegedly developed without the estate's consent and later reneged on agreements.
The lawsuit mentions that after nearly a year of negotiations, no agreement was reached, yet Warner Bros. proceeded with the show, moving it and rebranding it as The Pitt.
