Amazon reported its highest first-quarter profit as it continued to wring efficiencies out of its retail business and recharge growth in its cloud computing operations.
The company had $143.3 billion in revenue, with profit more than tripling to $10.4 billion, exceeding analysts' expectations.
Amazon's cloud computing business saw a 17% increase in sales to $25 billion, with operating income growing 84% to $9.4 billion.
