this is briket, a recyclable stool made entirely from potatoes and sawdust
Briefly

Renaud Defrancesco created the Briket stool as a fully recyclable piece that emerges entirely from potato and sawdust scraps, highlighting its raw materiality and robustness at Salone del Mobile 2024.
The Briket stool was a result of Renaud Defrancesco's experimental research on local waste, aiming to repurpose discarded byproducts into functional objects while collaborating with designer Anne Bertoncini for feasibility tests.
To produce the Briket stool, sawdust scraps and wood waste are compressed with potatoes, showcasing the natural materiality of the ingredients without added design features, encouraging on-site manufacturing to give wood waste a second life.
The recyclable Briket stool is not only sturdy but can also be recycled through fire for warmth, representing Renaud Defrancesco's vision of giving wasted materials a second life in functional design.
