For a classic and comfortable sofa, we love this one from Interior Define. The shape is unremarkable, but the sofa is incredibly comfortable. The cushions, in either the down or down alternative, are the perfect blend of firm and plush. The armrests are high and angled, perfect for lounging. The U shape comes from two chaises that are great for family movie nights. Quite simply, it's a great sofa.
Even if you don't have a sunken '70s living room to put this thing in conversation pit style, it can still invoke that design ethos. CB2, our favorite modern maker of vintage-inspired furniture, crushed it with this Faible sectional. The shape is beautiful. The leather is stunning when you see it up close, and it'll last you a lot longer than fabric. The only thing we'd say is it needs a few pillows, which is a bit of a to-do, given the size.
CB2 has the look of a conversation pit down, but Burrow is one of our favorite brands that actually makes something true to the shape and style. This is a big sofa, and it's all interior facing. Put a small coffee table in the middle, and you've got a centerpiece that's made for lounging with and talking to each other, not watching TV next to each other.
