Tesla China planned to cut Model Y output by ~20% March-June: Reuters
Briefly

Tesla has reportedly planned to cut Model Y production at Giga Shanghai by at least 20% in March-June 2024. Production fell by 17.7% in March and 33% in April compared to 2023.
In the first four months of the year, Tesla China produced 287,359 units of Model Y and Model 3, about 5% lower than 2023. The slowing production trend's extent in other plants like Giga Berlin or Fremont is unclear.
Tesla China sold 163,841 vehicles domestically from January to April 2024, with a 7.64% decline year-over-year. Model Y constituted 126,722 sales, and the Model 3 sedan had 37,119 sales.
Despite the production slowdown in Giga Shanghai, Tesla China aims to sell 600,000 to 700,000 vehicles domestically in 2024, out of a global target of 2 million vehicles. This is consistent with the company's 2024 goal set earlier.
