Mapping model units to visual neurons reveals population code for social behaviour - Nature
Briefly

To overcome the challenge of interpreting the role of individual neurons in sensorimotor transformation, a new method called knockout training perturbs internal units of a DNN model to match real neuron contribution to behavior.
Knockout training is beneficial for studying complex behaviors when simultaneous neural activity recordings are hard to obtain, as it infers neural activity from perturbed behavior, aiding research on natural behaviors like those of Drosophila males.
