Christian Langalis is auctioning the 'Buy Bitcoin' sign he held up behind Janet Yellen during her 2017 televised Congressional testimony. The sign, drawn on a yellow legal pad with a Uniball Vision pen, will be listed on Scarce City and funds will support his startup.
Langalis received a private offer of five BTC (around $350,000) for the sign. Bidding starts on April 18 on Scarce City and will conclude in person on April 24 at PubKey, a bitcoin-themed bar in New York.
Langalis' photo-bombing stunt of Yellen garnered international attention to bitcoin. Despite being escorted out for violating rules, the image went viral on social media.
Post-stunt Langalis was initially unaware of the image's virality, stating, 'I was clueless.' The auction without a reserve bid symbolizes a celebration with the bitcoin community.
